Passionate about flowers and how they can transform spaces

The Process

Everything about the floral world has me captivated, from the texture of different flowers to the incredible hues and shades of colours and the magic you can create with them. It has always captivated me. In fact, when I was a child, I used the pretend I had a little florist and craft studio in my parents small garden shed. Dreaming of customers popping in to view my work.

I fell into floral design in my late teens, and have been obsessed ever since. Working for 10 years in a retail florist store, then having a brief break from floristry. Pineapple Sage came about in 2017 after the realization that I had a huge passion for the art and missed it. But, I also knew I wanted to serve a niche market, weddings. Ever since, I have been making incredible connections with over 180 beautiful New Plymouth (and beyond) couples. I sometimes work alone, but often employ local freelance florists to assist me in the labour aspect of the day. This is to ensure we can deliver on the promise of the epic briefs that I have been busy planning and designing throughout the year for my couples.

In the week leading up to the wedding, our focus intensifies as we liaise with suppliers, other vendors such as planners, marquee installers, and cake designers. I fine-tune floral orders, and prepare vessels, props, and delivery logistics. Amidst this flurry of activity, we coordinate with additional freelancers, ensuring every detail will not be missed.

Two days before your day, the flowers arrive. We unpack, process and we tenderly nurture them (yes talk to them), preparing them for their moment in the spotlight. The day preceding the wedding sees us immersed in creating the florals.

Each step of the process is marked by attention to detail and a commitment to crafting a memorable celebration that reflects your story

In my consultations with couples, I relish the opportunity to delve into their unique journey, embracing their backgrounds and values. We find inspiration in their familial roots, infusing their love story into every floral arrangement. I understand the time and effort that you as a couple are putting into making everything perfect for your wedding day, and the responsibilty this puts on us.

Together, we explore the ambiance they envision for your special day and identify key areas for floral accents, blending your personal style preferences seamlessly into the design. Through collaborative brainstorming, we craft a vision board that paints a vivid picture of your wedding day aesthetic, igniting excitement as you catch a glimpse of what youe day will look like.

As the wedding approaches, approximately eight weeks prior, we reconvene to refine our ideas, I dream up a delicious list of florals sourced from across New Zealand. From the quaint local farms of New Plymouth, nurturing seasonal blooms, to the bustling wholesalers of Auckland and Wellington, our choices are curated carefully. We prioritize hues that harmonize, spotlighting focal flowers that command attention, while secondary and filler blooms play their supportive roles. It’s important to me to make a conscious effort to create as sustainable as possible, eliminating floral foam where we can.
